Polar bears

Day three we saw two polar bears, a mother and a cub, a hungry cub as you can see. They were at quite a distance, and the ship is not allowed to follow them, so these are taken with a 500mm telephoto lens and are 100% crops. The images are thus not great, but these animals are nonetheless impressive to behold, and I´m very glad I got this chance to see them in person.

The Magdalena Fjord was magnificent, and we were very lucky with the sun shining through the clouds when we came into the fjord.

Eiders in Longyear city

Eider is a duck of the northern hemisphere, these ones are in Longyear city (Svalbard). All photographers have a ton of duck photos, and we found these to be quite photogenic, so couldnt pass up the chance for some additions to the duck collection. BTW. the black and white ones are the males, and the brown more dull ones are the girliducks - they were mostly sitting completely still while the males were chasing around..
