As an interaction/webdesigner at the Norwegian Armed Forces Media Centre I created the interaction design and the visual design of the new official website of the Norwegian Armed Forces.

The work was carried out in collaboration with my colleagues at the Media Centre as well as the IT department (responsible for the project and all technical devolopment) and external consultants/developers. The are also a large number stakeholders and people involved in the content creation. All in all a huge project compared to a normal SMB website.

My work started with involvment i the planning phase when we were writing the functional specifications and goals. I had to anticipate many of the needs the content creators would have using a much more advanced publishing system than most of them had seen before. This included page template and user placed interactive parts of a page like maps, video, photogallery, calendar, reusable content etc.

The next phase was drawing out the wireframes for the interaction design of everything we came up with during the planning phase. Usability and WCAG guidelines was a key focus, the demands are even higher because this is a offical website within the goverment, and usability testing was done extensively. And lastly creating the visual design and branding of the site in accordance with the Norwegian Armed Forces Visual design guidelines. I was then heavily involved in the development work, both guiding the developers as well as doing parts of the frontend development (HTML and CSS). The site is based on Sharepoint 2010 and using modern coding practises like HTML5 and CSS3 with the concept of graceful degradation to let use these not yet finished standards.
